How To Make A Terrarium For Domestic Turtles Yourself

What a turtle looks like, every child knows. Due to its unique appearance, it is impossible to confuse them with any other animals. Their physique is very easy to describe schematically. The dorsal armor (Carapax), together with the abdominal armor (Plastron), which are connected by the so-called bridge, form an oval and slightly elongated "house", from which a movable neck, four clumsy legs and a pointed tail "sticks out". This creature impresses us as a primitive creature, though peace-loving, slow and cozy. These definitions apply to most turtles. Even a person who fears snakes and dislikes brisk lizards is not at all afraid of turtles and can pick them up right away with interest to see from all sides that, however, armored animals don’t really like it, they are much more sensitive and sharper than they feel pain than we are thinking.

Turtles. detached detachment (Testudines or Chelonia) inside the reptile class. For many millions of years they live both on land and in fresh or salt water in all the warm "points" of the globe. This indicates the tremendous vitality and endurance of these clumsy and generally not aggressive and defenseless animals. Turtles can not eat for a long time and suffer severe wounds and even injuries. This misleads some turtles lovers that phlegmatic animals are not at all offended by their owners. In fact, they live much less, being under a human roof, and slowly wither away, without showing noticeable signs. By the fact that their armor is becoming softer or by their chronic apathy, we can understand that something is wrong with them. The reasons for this can be very diverse: a lack of sunlight or artificial ultraviolet radiation, a dirty room, too cold air or a lack of calcium or vitamins. When the first signs of aging appear, you need to immediately take measures: more sun, more heat, regular addition of calcium and vitamins to food. Those who properly care for turtles will enjoy many years of joy from them, radiating so much calm and equanimity that they have a beneficial effect on our well-being.

Detachment turtles covers approximately 220 species and consists of two classes unequal in the number of turtles included in them: Cryptodira (Crypto-turtles) and Pleurodira (turtles with turning necks). This distinction seems amusing and is almost indistinguishable for beginners: crypto-turtles can completely drag their neck and head into their armor, turtles with turning necks "press" their neck to the edge of the dorsal armor. Both types of turtles can, as a rule, tighten their limbs and tail under the armor, and thus protect their "soft" part of the body from enemies.

Beginners in biology, as well as lovers of terrarium animals, consider another difference very significant, although it is not reflected in the scientific systematics. There are land and water turtles; between them a group of swamp turtles is wedged. We will lead the story according to this classification.
